LinkOfHyrule's review of Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)

Play Control: 5
Controls are very responsive and are in the right places for your convenience. When you press the button to swing your sword, you don't waste a second and navigating from the item menu to the game screen works fine.

Graphics: 5
Visually one of the greatest games for the SNES. The designs on many things look great and the colors either give off a lively or dark feel, depending on the situation. Aside from Link's hair being pink, these are amazing!

Animation: 5
Movements are very fluent. One thing I can't stand, in some games, is very choppy flow that ruins the pace of the game. Thankfully, Link to the Past runs smooth as silk.

Music: 5
Ahh, who can forget the ever-legendary soundtrack? The oh so familiar overworld theme is there and gives off the heroic beat we've all come to love. The music in Link to the Past is amazing, my personal favorites being the light world dungeons and the dark world mountain.

Sound FX: 5
The sounds are just fine. Hearing Link grunt whenever he gets struck is cool and when he charges and unleashes a full sword swing, you can't really ask for much more.

Plot: 5
Many hardcore Zelda fans are aware of the juggled storyline of the series. Placing in Link to the Past is a challenge and many fans have argued the place where it belongs. Nonetheless, it's a cool plot and it solidified the characters of both Agahnim and Ganon.

Difficulity: 5
Difficulty hits pretty square on in this game. As you begin, you'll find yourself just learning the ropes and it can be seen as a tad bit easy. However, with dungeon after dungeon, the challenge continues to rise. The last few dungeons as well as the final battle are a testament to that.

Replay Value: 5
Link to the Past is a lengthy adventure and newcomers will find themselves spending more than a few hours playing. Even after finishing the game, there are some other things to do. Some of these things are finding all of the heart pieces as well as gain new upgradeable weapons and items.

Over All: 5
This game is a true legend and many argue that the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is the greatest title in the series. Some argue that it's the greatest game to be released for the SNES. This game went back to the roots of the first Zelda game for the original Nintendo and brought new life to it. The first Zelda game I've played, Link to the Past remains my top favorite along with Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64.

Link to the Past is amazing and any newcomers to the older systems should give it a go.
